New To CBD? Let's Get You Caught Up

Well... Where Do We Start?

Cannabinoids (CBD) 101

Cannabinoids are a group of 100+ naturally occurring chemical compounds, including CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), that are produced by cannabis plants along with many other botanicals, as well as the human endocannabinoid system (ECS). These compounds interact with cannabinoid receptors within the ECS to produce a variety of non-psychoactive and psychoactive effects.

How Are Our CBD Products Made?

Our CBD is derived from hemp. We extract the CBD from hemp using ethanol. The extract undergoes a purification process to remove unwanted fats, chlorophyll, and ethanol. Through further purification processes called distillation and crystallization, full spectrum extract becomes isolated CBD.

Can I Give CBD To My Pet?

Yes, you can give CBD oil to your dog or other furry friend. However, dosing is a big part of proper administration. As yet, there is no official standardized dosing chart for pets – or humans, for that matter. Our recommendation is 1 milligram per 10 pounds of body weight.

Difference Between CBD & THC?

While both are cannabinoid compounds harvested from the cannabis plant and both offer a wealth of potential therapeutic benefits, the effects of CBD vs.THC vary quite a bit, as do their legal standings. CBD, on the other hand, is fully legal on the federal level and in all 50 states thanks to the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. If you’re concerned, ALL of our are products are specifically designed to contain CBD with the legal amount of THC ( 0.3%). Which is non-psychoactive.

How Do We Test Our Products?

All of Hughes Hemp CBD products undergo a comprehensive testing protocol to ensure our quality and safety standards are met. Our standards adhere to the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP) monograph on Cannabis. While the testing requirements vary from product to product and the production stage, each batch undergoes multiple rounds of testing which include: cannabinoid potency, terpenes, heavy metals, pesticides, microbial contaminants and residual solvents. Prior to processing, our hemp is tested for potency, heavy metals, and pesticides. Post-extraction, the raw oil is tested for these same analytes as well as residual solvents.

Can I Overdose On CBD?

A 2017 review of clinical research published in Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research confirmed that CBD is generally very safe, particularly when compared to other drugs. In general, the biggest risk you likely run if taking a huge dose of CBD may be getting sleepy as the cannabinoid can have tranquilizing effects in large doses. So, to answer your question; No, you can not overdose on CBD.
