The Difference Between CBD and THC

While both are cannabinoid compounds harvested from the cannabis plant and both offer a wealth of potential therapeutic benefits, the effects of CBD vs.THC vary quite a bit, as do their legal standings. CBD,

on the other hand,is fully legal on the federal level and in all 50 states thanks to the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. If you’re concerned, there are plenty of products out there specifically designed to contain CBD without THC.

THC-free CBD products like raw CBD oil and CBD isolates contain CBD in its purest form, without the presence of other compounds like THC or terpenes.

This is especially true for adolescents who consume large amounts of THC, though there’s no conclusive evidence that using cannabis causes psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia. Likewise, hemp can produce some THC in addition to CBD, so a test could be positive for THC even if you haven’t used it. It’s important to note that products that claim to be THC-free may not be free of THC, so if you’re drug tested, you shouldn’t use any CBD or THC products.

Why do people talk about THC content in CBD oil if THC and CBD are two different compounds?

The average cannabis strain today contains about 12 percent THC. CBD can have no more than 0.3 percent THC to be legal at the federal level.
